Weimar mo\u017ce kojarzy\u0107 si\u0119 z Republik\u0105 Weimarsk\u0105, z miejscem urodzenia Wolfganga Goethego albo te\u017c z Europejsk\u0105 Akademi\u0105 M\u0142odzie\u017cow\u0105 i O\u015brodkiem Spotka\u0144<\/a>. Sam o\u015brodek jest do\u015b\u0107 du\u017cym kompleksem budynk\u00f3w mieszcz\u0105cych cztery domy dla go\u015bci, recepcj\u0119 i jadalni\u0119 oraz dwa budynki, w kt\u00f3rych odbywa\u0142y si\u0119 zaj\u0119cia. Last week of August I spent in Weimar attending the Critical Youth Work (non-)Nonference. Weimar might bring to your mind the Weimar Republic, the birthplace of Wolfgang Goethe or the European Youth Education and Meeting Centre<\/a>. The centre itself is a fairly large complex comprising four guest houses, a reception area combined with a dining hall, along with two buildings where the sessions took place. Nearly ninety people participated in the event (with facilitators making up more than half of the attendees), so there was usually a choice of several\u2014between two and four\u2014thematic sessions. I attended the conference representing the Dialogue Supporting Foundation „Let’s Talk” and my contribution was a two-hour session titled „De Bono Six Thinking Hats in the social context.” During the event I kept wondering what was so unusual in it to name it a „non-conference” and what the criteria were used for selecting the sessions \ud83d\ude09 The format was practically the same as a standard conference: breakfast in the morning, an introductory session for all participants to kick things off, followed by signing up for specific topics and attending sessions until the evening. Suprisingly most of the activities weren’t thematically linked to critical youth work; my session was actually one of the few closely aligned with the event’s main theme. Don’t get me wrong\u2014the sessions were interesting and enriching; for instance, we covered topics like war victims in the Middle East, practiced working with young people through nature connection, played music together on PVC pipes, and even danced the tango, discussed cultural heritage, and so on. However, I felt the selection of sessions lacked a bit of cohesion. As for my own session, it was scheduled quite late\u2014at 8 PM \u2014but I still managed to gather a dozen or so participants. We spent the first half-hour on games and icebreakers; then I explained the method, and we moved on to choosing a topic to work on. Two topics made the final shortlist: whether private universities should be closed and whether access to social media should be limited to users 16+. The second topic won and we spent about an hour analyzing it from various perspectives. We didn’t finish with a specific solution, but that\u2019s not the point of the method\u2014its goal is to raise awareness about a given subject.
